Managed Behavioral Health Care

Who We Are

Calnet is a California not-for-profit network founded in 1983 to connect accredited
mental health and substance disorder treatment providers with insurers and managed care organizations

Together the Calnet management team, board of directors, and leaders of its member organizations represent California’s most powerful source of knowledge and experience in the field of managed behavioral health care.

Calnet is a premier association of mental health and substance use disorder providers with more than 85 sites of care throughout California.

As a not-for-profit mutual benefit corporation, Calnet is governed by a board of directors elected from the ranks of member executives.

This unique organizational structure places the leadership of Calnet in the hands of a group of highly trained, skilled and experienced rehabilitation executives. In addition, the Calnet management team brings more than 50 years of rehabilitation management experience to the organization.

The Win-Win Choice

Calnet provides a unique framework for providers to conduct business with managed care organizations

Calnet has been working with managed care since 1983. It maintains close and cooperative relationships with all major California health plans, managed care carveouts, union pension funds, national networks, third party administrators, and employee assistance programs.

For payors, Calnet members represent quality licensed and accredited programs providing a broad spectrum of mental health and substance use disorder services with locations throughout California.

Calnet members are positioned to provide the right services in the right locations to meet the needs of managed care organizations.

For members, the depth and breadth of contracts that Calnet manages allow access to managed care covered lives in quantities that are unavailable outside the network.

The Calnet Network

Providing an essential nexus between care managers and providers, Calnet strives to ensure a strong network of interactivity. All participants are carefully selected to create a cooperative and mutually supportive environment where knowledge can be shared.

All Calnet members are accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or the Joint Commission (TJC).

What does this mean?

CARF and TJC accredited organizations have passed a rigorous series of on-site reviews to assure that strict standards of care and best practices are maintained at all times.

As a consumer, accreditation is your seal of approval, letting you know with confidence that you or your loved one is receiving care in a treatment program that complies with national standards for staffing, staff qualifications, clinical services, and quality assurance.

Accreditation requires a total organizational commitment to quality and a willingness to be scrutinized by outside experts on both a regular and unannounced basis. Calnet is the only network of its kind with a 100% accredited membership. The commitment to excellence of our members is also Calnet’s commitment to consumers and care managers.
